Jeneba Barrie was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and immigrated to the United States at the age of eight, settling in Los Angeles, California, with her family. After the tragic and unsolved murder of her father, Jeneba relocated to Texas, determined to forge a new path and create a brighter future.
Motivated by a deep desire to make a meaningful impact, she pursued higher education, earning a degree in Political Science and Communication from the University of Houston. She went on to obtain her Juris Doctor and a Certificate in Civil Law from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center.
Jeneba began her legal career as a prosecutor, handling a wide range of cases—from criminal trespass to murder. In this role, she not only held offenders accountable but also offered compassion and support to victims’ families during their most difficult moments.
Today, Jeneba is a respected criminal defense attorney, practicing in both federal and state courts. She is known for her fearless representation, strong advocacy, and unwavering dedication to justice. Clients and colleagues alike recognize her for her integrity, empathy, and commitment to ensuring that every voice is heard.
As a judge, Jeneba will bring fairness, empathy, and a deep respect for the law to the bench—ensuring that every individual who enters her courtroom is treated with dignity and respect.
Outside of the courtroom, Jeneba is a published author and a proud mother of three boys. In her free time, she enjoys practicing Pilates, baking with her sons, shopping, and exploring her passion for health and wellness.
